Individual Music Lessons
Our team of specialist self-employed Visiting Music Teachers provides high-quality instrumental and vocal tuition for pupils across both the Prep and Senior Schools. Many of our teachers are accomplished professional performers, bringing a wealth of experience, expertise and inspiration to their teaching. Learning an instrument or developing vocal skills opens the door to a wealth of musical opportunities within the School, including participation in choirs, orchestras, bands, chamber ensembles and musical productions. Through these activities, pupils experience the enjoyment of making music with others, develop teamwork and leadership skills, build confidence through performance, and create lasting memories through concerts, tours and special events. Combined with our welcoming and vibrant Music Department, this creates an exciting environment in which pupils can develop their musical skills, confidence and creativity.
We offer tuition in the following instruments and disciplines:
Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Harp
Woodwind: Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon
Brass: French Horn, Trumpet, Cornet, Baritone, Euphonium, Trombone, Tuba
Percussion: Drum Kit, Orchestral Percussion (tuned and untuned)
Guitar: Classical Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar
Voice: Classical Singing, Musical Theatre
Keyboard: Piano, Harpsichord, Organ
The School hosts termly examination sessions for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Trinity Musical Theatre qualifications. Pupils regularly progress through the graded examination system, with many studying to Diploma level across a wide range of disciplines. Music examinations provide valuable goals, encourage disciplined practice and help pupils develop confidence, performance skills and a sense of achievement. We are proud of our consistently high success rate, with many pupils achieving Merit and Distinction awards each year.
