Sixth Form Pathways Programme Underway
The听first stage of the Sixth Form Pathways Programme听culminated in a presentation finale at the end of last term, with Team 1945听beating听14听other entries and truly convincing us that听1945听was indeed the most influential year of the 20th Century. Lower Sixth听 students had been working on the project across three weeks, honing their planning, research and teamwork skills and adding to the other career and social skills developed as part of the programme, including networking, public speaking and building an effective online profile.听听听
This term听now听sees pupils听divide into their chosen 鈥減athway鈥, with nearly 30 pupils electing to do an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ),听the inaugural year听for the school to offer听this programme. In addition, 24 students have chosen to participate in our Degree Apprenticeship pathway, evidence of the fast-growing interest this career route听is now generating. The remaining students have chosen a pathway that allows then to dedicate time to building skills specific to their area of interest post Sixth Form, including Oxbridge, Medicine and visual and performing arts applications.听听
A听new programme of support for budding US university applicants听has also been launched. Last term we delivered听a听number of听information sessions on themes听such as standardised testing (SATs/ACTs) and sports scholarships, as well as access to US university fairs. This term we will hold several workshops including how to choose the right university, the admissions process and the new digital SAT. Applications to US universities is听an area we are seeing more and more interest and we鈥檙e delighted that so many pupils听are taking advantage of these enrichment opportunities.听
